Local Industry

The Louden Machinery Company, an innovator in the hay and dairy industry, Turney Wagons, Harper Brush, Fairfield Glove & Dexter Washing Machines are representative of a lively entrepreneurial spirit which has long characterized the local business community. Relics from these and other companies tell the story of industrial enterprise in 19th and 20th century Jefferson County. An example of the NEW ERA ROPE MACHINE (pictured) was featured briefly on the History Channel in 2010. The television program was "American Pickers".                                                                                        copyright 2009 CARNEGIE HISTORICAL MUSEUM
